Ralph Gaylord Shores, 70, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of his loving wife and surrounded by family on June 11, 2012. Ralph was born in Kansas City, Kan., to Herbert and Vivian Shores. Love for his family was primary. He was a passionate artist when he was working with wood. He was a proud, strong and supportive man as well as caring, understanding, devoted and dependable. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed by all those that have been touched by his kindness and love.
A U.S. Army Veteran, Ralph enlisted in 1958 and served as a radio operator stationed in Germany. During Ralph’s tour in Germany, President Kennedy extended all military service due to the Berlin Crisis of 1961. Ralph served our country for three years, three months and twelve days. His last tour of duty was served at Fort Riley - Big Red One - HQ Battery 1st Infantry Division - Field Artillery.
Survivors include his devoted wife Christine, daughter Michelle and husband, John, three sons Tony and wife, Sue, Allan and wife, Connie, Christopher and wife, Kim. and his beloved grandchildren Nathan, Nik, Tyler, Daniel, Ariel, Corbin, Hailey, Aaron and Ryan. He is survived by siblings Chick and wife, Judy, Dinah and husband, Bill, Linda, Thad and wife, Lucinda and Rose, Mason and Frances. Ralph also leaves behind numerous family and friends.
Graveside Celebration of Life was at Mount Washington Cemetery, 614 Brookside Dr Independence Mo 64053 on Friday, June 15 at 10 a.m.
