Evelyn Camp Cook, Chanute, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Garden Terrace of Overland Park, Overland Park.

Evelyn was born in Iola, the daughter of Martin and Susan Elizabeth Peabody Britt. She graduated from Iola High School.

She was united in marriage to Claude Camp in 1936. He preceded her in death in 1979. She was united in marriage to Frank Cook in 1984. He preceded her in death in 1999.

Evelyn worked as a seamstress for all of her adult life, performing her trade for local businesses, including Calvert’s Department Store, and 113 East.

She particularly enjoyed her volunteer work at Cherry Street, and the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center.

She is survived by her daughter, Christie J. Tice, Lenexa; four grandchildren, Heather Campbell, Shawnee, Nicholle Riegel and husband, Overland Park, Mindy Camp-Watts, Olathe, and Justin Camp, Olathe; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her husbands and parents, by a daughter, Claudia Camp-Clines, a son, William Lewis Camp, and her sisters; Aldine Serl, Marjorie Hockett and Elizabeth Cooper.

It was Evelyn’s wish to be cremated. Services will be announced, at a later date, by the family.
