Jerry W. Young, 76, Chanute, died Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center. Jerry was born in Chanute on Feb. 1, 1936, the son of Leo Nelson and Bessie Speck Young. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1954, and attended Neosho County Community College.

Jerry served his country in the National Guard for 20 years.

He was united in marriage to Georgia Ann Colston, June 28, 1957 in Chanute. She survives, of the home.

Jerry was a CNC technician, applying his skills in industry for 37 years. He was a hard working father, and great husband. He enjoyed photography, amateur radio, all sports, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Georgia, he is survived by three sons, Leo Young, Chanute, Paul Young, Chanute, Michael Young and wife Kay, Chanute; six grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Richard Young and Kenneth Young, both of Houston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Bessie Lee Herder, a son, Jerry Wayne Young, Jr., and a daughter, Constance Young Goss.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 19 at the First Church of the Nazarene, Chanute. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene (note: new location)

Memorials in his name may be made to the Cherry Street Youth Center, and may be left with the funeral home.
