Velma June Greve, 79, Chanute, died Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 28, 1930, in Raytown, Mo., to Jess and Margaret Clark Byers. She graduated from Chanute High School and received her Associate’s Degree from Neosho County Community College.

She married Robert E. Greve on June 22, 1948, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chanute. He survives.

She worked at several local businesses. Her last job was at Total Image Studio until she retired in 1992.

She enjoyed sewing, cooking, photography, cake decorating and oil painting. Her family was the joy of her life and she loved spending time with them.

Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Susie Greve, Iola; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Greve and Jim Edson, Chanute; a granddaughter, Jennifer McDermeit, Gas; two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Hallie June McDermeit; and a brother, Don Byers, Chanute.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Byers.

Mass of Catholic Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Memorials in her name may be made to St. Patrick’s School or St. Patrick’s Restoration Fund and may be left with the funeral home.
