Emerald O. Carlson, 66, Humboldt, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009 at her home.

She was born in Blue Eye, Ark., on April 21, 1942, the daughter of Joy and Clellie Peden Terherst. She attended schools in Blue Eye, Ark. She later earned her Associate’s Degree in Business at NCCC.

Emerald was united in marriage to Dale Lee Carlson on Feb. 5, 1999 in Miami, Okla. He survives.

She was a homemaker.

Along with her husband, Dale, she is survived by four sons, Derrell Isaacs of Texas, Justin Isaacs of Missouri, James Carlson of Chanute and Jason Carlson of Pittsburg; two daughters, Tammy Jesseph of Chanute and Raymona Wright of Humboldt; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, J.T., Owen, and Cecil Terherst, all of Arkansas, and one sister, Josephine Clark of Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Charles Michael Terherst; a daughter, Christine Isaacs; and two grandsons, Tallon Isaacs and Dale Jesseph Jr.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009 at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel in Chanute. Burial will be held in Blue Eye, Ark., at a later date.

Memorials in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be left with the funeral home.
