Earl C. Conner, 86, Bronson, died Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott.

He was born Oct. 11, 1922, at LaHarpe to Isaac and Effie Vanderslice Conner.

He married Dorothy Madgeline Lowe on Nov. 22, 1941, at Nevada, Mo. She preceded him in death.

He was in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Heber City, Utah. He also served in the last U.S. Calvary at the age of 14. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He came out of retirement in 1976 to work as an inspector for the Rural Water District for a couple of years. Following this he farmed and raised cattle.

Survivors include three daughters, Connie Johnson, Redfield, Shirley Edwards, Moran, and Vicki Murry, Pittsburg; three sisters, Opal Chastain, Savonburg, Dorothy Aldrich, Mesa, Ariz., and Ruby Hoggatt, Meza, Ariz.; a brother, Harold “Dutch” Conner, Lawrence; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Leona; two brothers, Alfred and Edward Conner; and a granddaughter.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Moran. Burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Kimball.

The family will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
