William Dean Boman, 75, Miami, Okla., died Thursday, February 19, 2009, at his home after a long battle with cancer.
He was born Aug. 26, 1933, in Elsmore to Dean L. and Ruth Deer Boman. He was a graduate of Elsmore High School.
He worked in the trucking industry for more than 30 years, retiring from Indiana Western Express as a safety instructor. He was a member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Miami.
On Aug. 23, 1952, he married Alice Marie Gatewood in Nevada, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Kay “Ruth” Harvey, Miami, and Deana Engle, Sapulpa, Okla.; two grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; a great-granddaughter; four stepgreat-granchildren; siblings, Shirley Shultz, Chanute, Glen Boman, Bristow, Okla., Phyllis Puckett, Nebraska, Helen Roberts, Stark, Sue Coultas and Dale Boman, Iola, Tom Gatewood, Wyandotte, Okla., Bob Gatewood, Houston, Texas, Jim Gatewood, Wyandotte, Larry Gatewood, Miami, and Linda Colver, Welch, Okla.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Jeff Boman; and a granddaughter.
Cremation was under the direction of Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami. Funeral will be 10 a.m. March 2 at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 225 B St. N.W., Miami, OK 74354. Burial will follow in Good Shepherd Memorial Garden at the church.
