Robert John Bollig, 76, of Chanute, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 at his home.

Robert was born in Lakin on April 1, 1936, the son of John Edward and Sarah A. Herrman Bollig. He attended rural schools in Altoona.

He was a farmer and a factory worker.

Robert was united in marriage to Lorene Livingston on Oct. 5, 1957 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Chanute. She survives, of the home.

Along with his wife, Lorene, he is survived by seven children, Jim Bollig of Chanute, Susan Young and her husband, Chris, of Owasso, Okla., Joe Bollig and his, wife, Rachel of Butler, Mo., Mark Bollig and his wife, Michelle of Olathe, Roger Bollig and his wife, Laura, of Chanute, Bob Bollig and his wife, LaRonna, of Independence, and Brian Bollig of Chanute; 24grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Doris Sanders of Wichita, Joan Gill of Chanute, Judy Riley of Chanute, Betty Ward of California and Patricia Lowe of Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Anthony Bollig; and three sisters, Marie Kirkpatrick, Jane Nottingham and Linda Miller.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Chanute. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. this evening at St. Patrick Catholic Church followed by visitation in the Parish Hall from 7:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Memorials in his name may be made to St. Patrick’s School or Parkinson’s Research and may be left with the funeral home.
