Socorro “Corrine” Mendoza Perez, 79, Chanute, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009 at her home.
Socorro was born in Chanute on Nov. 28, 1929, the daughter of Bernabe and Evarista Gutierrez Mendoza. She received her LPN training at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa, Okla., and worked as an LPN.
She was united in marriage to John Perez. He preceded her in death on June 9, 1981.
Socorro is survived by two sons, John Perez, Jr., and Michael John Perez and his wife, Marcia (Blubaugh); two grandchildren; brothers, Jesse Mendoza and his wife, Rebecca, Tony Mendoza and his wife, Gloria, Joe Mendoza and his wife, Rosie, Richard Mendoza and his wife, Jean, Phillip Mendoza and his wife, Karen and Fred Mendoza and his wife, Kathy; sisters, Lydia Magruder and her husband, Bob, and Cathy Lamb and her husband, Larry; and sisters-in-law, Connie Mendoza and Mary Mendoza.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Perez, and two brothers, Pete Mendoza and Charlie Mendoza.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 4 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chanute. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Humboldt.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. this evening at the church.
Memorials in her name may be made to John Perez, Jr., and may be left with the funeral home.
