Oscar Ogle Martin, 86, Mountain Home, Ark., died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009.

He was born June 26, 1922, in Forrest, Wis., to Gus and Emma Louise Thomas Martin.

He married Esther Burlingame on Dec. 23, 1949, in Pine City, Minn., and had resided in the Mountain Home area since moving from Savonburg in 2002.

He was a farmer and plumber. He enjoyed working with his cattle and farming, taught all his grandkids to fish and was a member of the Ruitan Club in Elsmore.

Survivors include his wife, Esther Martin, Mountain Home; a son, Danny L. Martin, Chanute; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Jerry Binnion, Mountain Home, Ark.; a brother, Richard Martin, Gainesville, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Danny Martin Jr., Pamela Loridon, Tina Crapson, Tracey Powell, Jennifer Shaddy, James M. Binnion and Seth Martin; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and special friends Joe and Mary Smith, Hermon and Flo Honas and Ken Good.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary L. Martin; four brothers, Otto, Walter, Lewis and Clarence Martin; and a sister, Margaret.

A memorial service was held at 4 p.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Gadbaw officiating. Burial was held at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute. Arrangements were under the direction of Kirby & Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
