Thomas Eugene Franklin, 57, Chanute, died Friday, February 27, 2009 at the Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, as the result of an automobile accident.

Thomas was born in Orange, Texas, on Sept. 5, 1951, the son of Joseph Martin and Theresa Louise Cormier Franklin. He was a high school graduate.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and later in Germany.

Thomas was united in marriage to Marsha McCoy on Jan. 29, 1999. She survives.

He was a computer technician.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Marsha McCoy, of the home; a daughter, Sharon Fenton, Lincoln, Calif.; two granddaughters; a brother, Douglas Franklin, Tulsa, Okla., and a sister, Karen Hamilton, Mannford, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 at the Serenity House, 816 S. Malcolm.

Memorials in his name may be made to the veteran’s organization of the donor’s choice.
