Lavonna “Coke” Colston, 58, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center, Chanute.
She was born Nov. 9, 1953, in Chanute, the daughter of Roy and Della Whitmore Brown. Coke attended Chanute High School.
She was united in marriage to Farrel E. Colston on Sept. 25, 1971. He preceded her in death in 2007.
Coke dedicated her life to her family, and lived her life as a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Chanute American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children; Mitzi Schoenhofer and husband, Kevin, of Chanute, Amanda Raida and husband, Chad, of Chanute, Nannette Petty of Chanute, James Colston and wife, Kim, of Chanute, Ken Colston and wife, Melissa of Chanute; a sister; Natalea “Tootie” Clark of Chanute; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Donnie Howell, Roy “Monk” Howell, and Gary Howell, all of Chanute.
In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Dean Howell.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 4 at the Church of the Nazarene, Chanute. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m..
The family requests memorial contributions in Coke’s name to Cherry Street Youth Center and may be left in care of the funeral home.
