Marvin Eugene Jeffers, 89, Neodesha, died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Wilson Medical Center Reece Campus Emergency Room.
The son of John Henry and Lida Lang Jeffers, he was born Nov. 5, 1919, in Mason City, Iowa.
He married Mildred Lea Endsley on Nov. 17, 1944, in Chanute. She survives.
Before moving to Neodesha, he was employed as a mechanic at Martin Tractor in Chanute until his retirement. He was a former resident of Weslaco, Texas, and Fredonia, as well.
He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church and a former member of the Elks Lodge.
Other survivors include a son, Kenneth D. Jeffers, O’Fallon, Mo.; two daughters, Karol J. Foster, Spartanburg, S.C., and Karla D. Holtzman, Neodesha; a sister, Mildred Unruh, Hutchinson; three grandchildren, Scot Jeffers, Cassandra Felts and Karina Holtzman; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Phillip; a sister, Edith; and a grandson.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel, Neodesha. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 14 at the Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Logan officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
