Roberta “Maxine” Terwilliger, 84, Independence, died Friday, August 22, 2008, at home.

She was born Sept. 26, 1923, in Sand Springs, Okla., to Earl and Marie Matthews Hough. She graduated from Cavanaugh High School, Fort Smith, Ark.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Terwilliger; a sister, Wanda Bullock, Las Cruces, N.M.; two daughters, Barbara McHughes, Rush Springs, Okla., and Sharon Knuth, Independence; six grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lola Presson, Fort Smith, Ark., and Nancy Craig, Las Cruces, N.M.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at the National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark., under the direction of Potts Chapel, Independence.
