Dean Olinger, 70, Parsons, died Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Freeman Heart Institute in Joplin, Mo.

He was born March 31, 1938, in Chanute, to Harry Lorraine and Dorothy Anna Carter Olinger. He grew up in Thayer where he attended school and was a 1956 graduate of Thayer High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-1960.

Following his discharge from the Air Force, he attended Wichita State University. Most of his career was spent working in sales at Lipton Tea and Vicks Chemical Company.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parsons.

Survivors include a son, Larry Olinger, St. Joseph, Mo.; three grandchildren; a brother, Ron Olinger, Duncan, Okla.

He was preceded in death by one son, Brian Olinger.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at Harrison Cemetery, rural Thayer.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
