Iva Eileen Harner, 91, of Humboldt, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 at Chanute HealthCare after a short illness. She was born on August 21, 1921. She was the daughter of Edward and Anna Friederich Breiner. She married Merle Harner on May 4, 1939 in Chanute. He preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1980.
Iva was a lifelong resident of Humboldt and a retired employee of H.K. Porter in Chanute. She was a seamstress, homemaker, and member of the Farmers’ Wives Club.
She is survived by one son, Edward Harner; and four daughters, Darlene Paul and husband, Richard, Betty Harral, Carolyn Rowden and husband, Paul, and Mary Clevenger; one brother, Orville Breiner and wife, Joyce; one sister, Norma Maring; and 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two grandchildren, and one son-in-law, Jim Harral.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Humboldt. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
She will be in-state on Sunday from 1 until 5 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Humboldt Chapel.
Memorials in her name may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church and may be left with the funeral home.
