Kenneth O. Akers, 83, Yates Center, died Wednesday, March 18,2 009, at Coffey County Hospital in Burlington.
He was born Sept. 23, 1925, at Jackson County, Mo., to Henry W. and Lenora James Akers. He grew up near Humboldt.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1946.
He was employed as a truck driver with Missouri-Pacific Railroad in Kansas City, Mo., for 23 years.
He was a member of the Methodist church in LaHarpe.
He married Kathryn L. Lust on March 24, 1946, in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Patricia Akers, Los Angeles, Calif.; a brother, James Akers, Iola; and a sister, Ruby Nicholas, Independence.
Cremation has been performed. No services are planned. Inurnment will be in Yates Center Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home, Yates Center.
