Ora F. McCracken, 89, died Monday, September 1, 2008, at the Heritage Nursing Center, Chanute, after a lengthy illness.
He was born May 11, 1919, at Lyndon to Walter and Nina Lewis McCracken.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
On Feb. 2, 1946, he married Nella Neil at Vancouver, Wash. She survives.
Other survivors include their children and their spouses, Jeannie and “Corky” Van Gotten, Chanute, Neil and Alesia McCracken, New Johnsonville,Tenn., Patricia and Robert McAdam, Vancouver, Wash., and Trudy Parker, Pelsor, Ark.; a brother and sister-in-law, W.B. and Marian McCracken, Fort Madison, Iowa; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy McCracken, and a granddaughter, Tennille McCracken.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the Alpine Cemetery, rural Osage City.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, Chanute.
Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Food Pantry, Chanute, in care of the funeral home.
