Nyla Peter, 81, Chanute, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 at Chanute Healthcare.

Nyla was born in Onaga on Oct. 23, 1931, the daughter of William and Emma Berges Zeckser. She was married to Floyd Peter on March 28, 1951 in Westmoreland. He preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time watching her grandchildren play baseball, Sunday dinners with her family, and traveling.

Nyla is survived by her children, David and Julia Peter of Chanute, Dean and Nancy Peter of Humboldt, and Sharlene Crawford and Carl Shultz of Erie; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Roger, Vernon, and Eldor Zeckser.

The family will receive friends this evening from 6 until 7 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel.

Funeral service will be 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5 at Zion Lutheran Church in Chanute. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials in her name may be made to the Huntington’s Foundation and may be left with the funeral home.
