Leona Cowen, 85, of Chanute died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Heritage Health Care in Chanute.
Leona was born Chanute on June 12, 1927, the daughter of Sylvester and Pearl Young Reed. She attended Chanute High School.
She married Delmer Cowen on June 10, 1944 in Tyronza, Ark. He preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 2000.
She worked as a seamstress in Cherryvale and retired from KAAP in Parsons.
Leona is survived by her children, Delmer Cowen of Chanute, Sharon and Richard Tomlinson of Wichita, and Pat and Freddie Osborn of Thayer; five grandchildren, Jeff Cowen, Steve Cowen, Jeremy Cowen, Sheila Dyke, and Teri Meador; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; one brother, Vester and Mary Reed of Chanute; and one sister, Mabel and Leon Shook of Chanute.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one daughter-in-law, Sherry Cowen.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14 at Neosho County Memorial Park.
Memorials in her name may be made to Heritage Healthcare and may be left with the funeral home.
