Beatrice Doane, 101, a lifelong resident of Fredonia, died Thursday morning, Jan. 10, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Fredonia. She was born March 17, 1911 in Fredonia, the daughter of Charlie and Zella Andrew Claiborn.

On Nov. 18, 1929, in Fredonia, Beatrice was united in marriage to Bliss Delbert Doane. Bliss preceded her in death Jan. 2, 1991. They co-owned and operated Doane’s Furniture Store in Fredonia.

Beatrice was a member of the Calvary Wesleyan Church in Fredonia.

Survivors include two daughters, Emma Jean Snook of Santa Ana, Calif., Leota Fitzsimmons of Wann, Okla.; one son, Roland Doane of Fredonia; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren; 5 stepgrandchildren, 16 stepgreat-grandchildren and 6 stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two two daughters, Frances Mae Law and Betty Jo Doane; and two granddaughters, Brenda Snook and Valerie Law.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 at the Calvary Wesleyan Church in Fredonia. Private family burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery. Friends may call at Timmons Funeral Home on Wednesday, 2-6 p.m., where the family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. A memorial has been established in Beatrice’s name with the Calvary Wesleyan Church and donations may be sent to or left at Timmons Funeral Home, PO Box 168, Fredonia, KS 66736.
