Clifford O’Dell Nantz, 98, of Chanute, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at the Heritage Health Care Center in Chanute.

Clifford was born in Humboldt on March 14, 1914, the son of Edmund and Bertha Kannard Nantz. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1933. He graduated from Southwestern College in Winfield in 1942 and then attended Bonebreak Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.

Clifford was an ordained minister and served churches in Kansas and Indiana for 46 years.

On June 10, 1934 he was united in marriage to Ruby Moffatt in Chanute. They celebrated 77 years of marriage. She survives, of the home.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Chanute.

Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Charles “Ted” Nantz, and five sisters, Bernice Wingblade, Vesta Barnes, Millie Wade, Zelpha Uden and Izora Neptune.

Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 at the First Christian Church in Chanute. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The Rev. Nantz will lie in state today from 1 until 5 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel.

Memorials in his name may be made to the First Christian Church and may be left with the funeral home.
