Steven Brett Finley, 57, of Chanute, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Steve was born in Chanute, on March 13, 1955, the son of Carroll and Shirley Myers Finley. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1973. After high school, he graduated from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in 1996.

He spent several years managing funeral homes in Texas. After returning to Kansas, he was self employed, working in the oil fields.

He was united in marriage to Annie Orton. They later divorced.

Steve is survived by his parents, Carroll and Shirley Finley of Chanute; three sons, Steve Finley of Fredonia, Dusty Finley of Chanute and Nick Finley of Neodesha; a sister, Nancy Moore of Seminole, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and his companion, Shirley Tinsley of Garland, Texas.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Kent Finley.

Cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Memorials in his name may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice and may be left with the funeral home.
