Patsy Jo Herndon Smith, 62, of Carl Junction, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at the home of her sister following a battle with cancer.

Born August 21, 1950 in Chanute, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Geneva Brown Herndon. She worked at LaBarge Electronics. Patsy was a Christian.

Survivors include three daughters, Stacy Showalter and husband, Scott, of Joplin, Misty Peterson and husband Robert Jr., of Iola, Tabitha Soundsleeper and husband, James, of Scotts Bluff, Neb.; two sons, Michael Dean Smith and Donald Lloyd Smith, both of South Dakota; two sisters, Vera Tidd and husband, Herb, Donna Mitchell, all of Joplin; one brother, Dean Herndon of Joplin; 20 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Six siblings preceded her in death, Claude and Burl Herndon, Peggy Badart, Cathy West, Rose McCain and Imagene Barkley.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Parker Chapel, Joplin, with Jim Dillow officiating. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
