Gary Clemens, 75, of Chanute, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at Chanute Health Care Center.

He was born on August 27, 1937 in Earlton, to Harvie and Thelma Stipp Clemens. He attended Chanute High School.

On May 27, 1962 he married Darla Stewart in Chanute.

Gary was a truck driver for several years. He enjoyed spending time and fishing at Grand Lake, NASCAR, working in his wood shop, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Gary and his wife, Darla, were the owners of the Sunset Laundorette.

He is survived by his wife, Darla Clemens, of Chanute; two daughters, Diana Shearin and husband, Eric, of Chanute, and Debbie Stirewalt and husband, Tommy, of Chanute; three grandchildren, Channing Stirewalt, Connor Stirewalt and Danielle Shearin, all of Chanute; brother-in-law, Richard Chase of Grove, Okla.; sister-in-law, Nancy Clemens of Chanute; mother-in-law, Norma Jean Stewart of Chanute; sister-in-law, Sandra Shore of Ponca City, Okla.; brother-in-law, Dalton (D.L.) Stewart and wife, Elaine, of Edmond, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Phyllis Chase, Shirley Ann Clemens, Larry Clemens, and Dwight Clemens.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today, March 2 at the Earlton Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the American Legion after the service.

Memorials in his name may be made to Veterans Memorial Wall in Chanute and left with the funeral home.
