Carl Edward Kemmerer, 63, Iola, died Sunday, September 7, 2008, at Allen County Hospital in Iola.

He was born Aug. 3, 1945, in Chanute to Charles Edward and Ella Lucille Bailey Kemmerer. He grew up on the family farm southeast of Humboldt, where he worked for several local farmers. He also had a lawn care business and enjoyed lawn mowing.

After his parents died, he moved to Iola where he has worked for Tri-Valley Developmental Services.

He was a born-again Christian and attended the Leanna Christian Church while living on the farm. He attended First Christian Church while residing in Iola.

Survivors include a brother, Gene Kemmerer, Humboldt; four sisters, Mary Stark, Clearfield, Utah, Sue Hurst, Houston, Texas, Helen Uitts, Iola, and Carol Tucker, Albemarle, N.C.; two nephews and five nieces; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt with the Rev. Steve Traw officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel, Iola.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
