Frances Louise “Frankie” Waltmire, 84, Fredonia, died Monday, September 8, 2008, at Aldersgate Village, Topeka.

She was born Feb. 16, 1924, in Fredonia to Frank and Barbara Atwell Palmer. She was a 1942 graduate of Fredonia High School.

She married Warren Waltmire on Aug. 31, 1952, in Independence. He died March 27, 1967.

She retired from the Wilson County Treasurer’s Office in 1990.

She was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan Kay Formenti, Springfield, Mo.; a son, Kent Alan Waltmire, Topeka; three stepchildren, Paul Waltmire, Cherryvale, Shirley Willis, Ozark, Mo., and Tom Waltmire, Weir; three sisters, Irene Shay, Billie Kidd and Carol Miller, all of Fredonia; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Bonnie Palmer and Nell Fenner; and a brother, Clyde Palmer.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Fredonia City Cemetery under the direction of Timmons Funeral Home, Fredonia.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
