Robert Emerson Bunn, 77, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., formerly of Chanute, entered died Saturday, March 2, 2013.

He was born Dec. 31, 1935, in Tulsa, Okla., son of the late Earl N. and Audrey G. Bunn. He and Auna Lee Kissinger were married May 7, 1960, in Springfield, Mo.

Robert attended Chanute schools, graduating from Chanute High School in 1954. He received a Bachelor’s degree from Missouri State University (formerly Southwest Missouri State College) in 1958.

Robert enlisted in the Army National Guard serving on active duty at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and Fort Chaffee, Ark. He was recalled to active military duty again in 1961, serving at Fort Leonard Wood.

Robert joined the United States Treasury Department as a computer programmer/analyst in 1960. He earned a Master’s degree in business administration from the University of Missouri and acquired a major branded wholesale petroleum company that he operated until 1995. He later operated a petroleum jobber and convenience store brokerage business until retiring in 2005.

Robert is survived by a son, Stephen Bunn, of West Plains, Mo.; a sister, Doris McDermott of Charles Town, W.Va.; and a brother, William Bunn and wife Barbara (Beck) of Conyers, Ga.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service today, March 14 at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park, with full military honors by American Legion Post 63 and Missouri Honors Team.

Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 63.
