Victor F. Stroble, 89, Chanute, died Thursday, September 11, 2008, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 1, 1919, in Independence to John and Gurtrude Button Stroble. He graduated from Elk City High School in 1940.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force and Civil Service.
He married Joan Knowles on June 10, 2008, in Chanute. She survives.
Other survivors include four children, Dale and Ron Stroble, Diana Sierra and Aleta Garnas; six step-children, Debbie Silbaugh, Brenda Tomlin, Karen Paulie, Teresa Chandler, Susan White and Mark Knowles; seven grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred Rolston.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date. Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
