Ima Jean Young Rutherford, 84, formerly of Humboldt and Buffalo, died Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Ozark Riverview Manor, Ozark, Mo.
She was born March 12, 1925, in Buffalo to W.E. and Ila Todd Young. She was a 1943 graduate of Buffalo High School.
She married Cleo Ray Rutherford on Dec. 31, 1950. He survives.
She worked for many years in food service at Altoona-Midway School.
She was a very active and loving mother and wife. Singing was her passion. She was a member of Sunny Stone EHU and Buffalo Nazarene Church. She loved auctions and antiquing.
Other survivors include a sister, Pauline Spiva, Florida; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Lana and Randy Lemasters, Chanute, Jana Orton, Clever, Mo., Dana and Mike Ballard, Joplin, Mo., and Diana and Mitch Eveleigh, Oklahoma City, Okla.; grandchildren Tommy Ayers, Nixa, Mo., Chad Ayers, Chanute, Shana Ayers, Mission, Shawn Orton, Chanute, Tessa Orton, Clever, Mo., Jared Gant, Chanute, Tyler Gant, Chanute, Michelle Lour, Topeka, and Timmy Lour, Manhattan; six step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Joe; and a sister, Wilda.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel. Burial will be held at the Buffalo Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
