Thelda L. Muncy, 89, formerly of Erie and Douglass, died Monday, April 6, 2009 at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.
She was born on March 11, 1920 at Bridgeport, Okla., to John Newton and Bessie Starbuck Fossett. She grew up and attended school at Hinton, Okla.
She and Claude Muncy were married on March 4, 1938 at Kingfisher, Okla. He preceded her in death in June 1997.
She was a homemaker and resided at Erie for 20 years and Douglass for 15 years before moving to the Prairie Mission Retirement Village at St. Paul so her son, George Muncy, could help provide for her care.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Douglass.
Survivors include her son, George Muncy, Erie; one brother, LeRoy Fossett, Nevada, Mo.; one sister, Thelma Waters, Grand Junction, Colo.; six grandchildren; and many great- and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Viola Haynes, in April 1999; a brother, Esthel Fossett, who was killed in action in World War II; and sister, Theresa Dickey.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m., Friday, April 10, at the Douglass Cemetery at Douglass. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village at St. Paul.
