Patty L. Karp, 74, Las Cruces, N.M., entered eternal life Friday, April 10, 2009, at La Posada – Mesilla Valley Hospice.

She was born Nov. 20, 1934, in Chanute to Leslie Robert and Edna Carpenter Byers.

She retired from New Mexico State University as a secretary for the Student Affairs Department.

Survivors include her loving husband, Ron Karp; two sons, Steven R. and Randell W. Kern, both of Las Cruces, N.M.; two stepdaughters, Barbara J. Blum and Lisa M. Liberman, both of Florida; a sister, Charlotte Fink, Las Cruces, N.M; four grandchildren, Teri, Shawn, Miranda and Chan Kern; and a great-granddaughter, Kaylie Kern.

Cremation will take place and a private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Baca’s Funeral Chapels and Baca’s Sunset Crematory, Las Cruces, N.M.

Contributions may be made to her great-granddaughter’s college fund, in care of Steve Kern, 1585 Durazno, Las Cruces, NM 88001.
