Grace Lorene Timmons, 92, South Hutchinson, formerly of Thayer, died Monday, April 13, 2009, at Mennonite Manor in South Hutchinson.

She was born March 10, 1917, in Sterling to Archie and Asenath Hinshaw Stone. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1935.

She taught school in Stafford and Rice Counties and was a member of Living Waters Evangelical Free Church.

She married Glen H. Timmons on May 28, 1940, in Hays. He died on Aug. 3, 1999.

Survivors include six children, Glenda Johnson, Sebring, Fla., Dr. Garold Timmons, Tyler, Texas, Kenneth Timmons, Indian Trail, N.C., Becky Smith, Muskegon, Mich., Anita Martin, Blackwell, Okla., and Archie Timmons, South Hutchinson; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Graveside funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Sterling Community Cemetery under the direction of Birzer Funeral Homes & Granite Memorials, Sterling. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Mennonite Manor Chapel in South Hutchinson.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
