Elma Jane Parsons, 97, wife of deceased Paul D. Parsons, died Sept. 17, 2008 in Auburn, Ala. She was born Dec. 2, 1910 in Harper County, to Robert and Flora Hopkins.

She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist church before moving to Alabama in 1994.

She graduated from Friends University in Wichita and taught at various times in Chanute.

She was involved in church activities, enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of the Round Table Study Group.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Mary and Marllin Simon, Auburn, Ala.; a son Robert Parsons, Overland Park; two grandsons, Lt. Col. Kent and Linda Simon, Brooklyn, N.Y., Johnathon Simon, Manchester, N.H.; and granddaughter Amanda Hermesch, Kansas City, Mo.

Graveside service will be Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 2 p.m. in Parker Cemetery in Arkansas City.

Rindt-Endman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
