Rodney Howard Cruson, 55, Chanute, fell asleep in death on Friday, September 19, 2008.

He was born Dec. 6, 1952, to William Garrett and Donna Bastien Cruson in Glendale, Calif.

He married Shari Smith on April 20, 1974.

As an elder in the congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he faithfully served his God Jehovah to the end. He shared his Bible-based beliefs and hope for the future by volunteering his time each month and talking to each person who came through his hospital room door. He loved spending time with his two beautiful grandchildren and teaching people about the Bible.

Survivors include his wife, Shari; his father and stepmother, Gary and Jan Cruson; a son and daughter-in-law, Cliff and Jennifer Cruson; a daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Evan Milnes; two sons, Joshua and Jared Cruson; two grandchildren, Taylore and Garrett; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Gene Tuller and Dana and Terry Laney; a sister, Dani Alvarado; a brother and sister-in-law, Derrick and Kim Cruson; nine nieces and nephews; and four great-nieces and -nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at the Chanute Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 4040 Johnson Drive, Chanute, at 2 p.m.

In lieu of sending flowers, memorials may be sent to the family in care of 915 W. 1st, Chanute, KS 66720.
