Marsha Ann Barnhart, 53, Iola, died Monday, September 22, 2008, at her home following a long battle with cancer.
She was born Nov. 17, 1954, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Keith and Shirley VanVickle Osburn. She graduated from Chanute High School in 1972 and the Mary Grimes School of Nursing in 1989.
She worked as director of nursing at Arkhaven Nursing Home in Iola for 12 years and at the ElDorado Correctional Facility.
On Dec. 26, 1972, she married Martin Earl Barnhart. He died April 5, 1981.
She was a member of RiverTree Christian Church in Iola.
Survivors include three children and their spouses, Martin and Angela Barnhart, Baldwin, Marlana and Chris Jones, Iola, and Marshall and Jacie Barnhart, Iola; her parents, Harley and Shirley Record, Chanute; 10 grandchildren, Whitney, Alexa, Kylee, Caleb, Hunter, Maciah, McKinley, McKadin, Haile and Cale; two brothers, Steven Osburn and Kevin Record, both of Houston, Texas; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Alisa Almond, Tonya and David Ely, and Deedra and Mario Perez, all of Chanute; numerous loved nieces and nephews; and her beloved pet, Sophie.
She was preceded in death by her father, Keith Osburn; her grandparents, Andrew and June VanVickle; and an aunt, Dolores Sharp.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at RiverTree Christian Church in Iola. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
