The Rev. Clyde A. Dyke, 70, rural Dennis, died Sunday, September 28, 2008, at his home after a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 19, 1938, in Parsons to George F. and Elsie L. Modesitt Dyke. He graduated from Labette County Community High School, Altamont, in 1956 and later Pittsburg State University.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
He retired from Vallis-Wngroff Printing Company in Cherryvale in 2004.
He as pastor at several Southern Baptist churches in the area before establishing New Day Southern Baptist Church, Parsons, in July 1995.
He married Mary Denson on June 4, 1960. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Timothy Dyke, Parsons; a daughter, Brenda Stroud, Parsons; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; his mother, Elsie Dyke, Parsons; five brothers, Jack and Bill Dyke, both of Thayer, Bob Dyke, Bella Vista, Ark., Gene Dyke, Miami, Okla., and Chuck Dyke, Las Vegas, Nev.
He was preceded in death by his father and an infant son, Dwayne Dyke.
An informal memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Dyke home, 26033 Elk Road. Arrangements are under the direction of Carson-Wall Funeral Home.
