Sylvia Mae Wingate, 85, Altoona, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at the Chanute Healthcare Center.
She was born Aug. 7, 1924, in Hitchcock, Okla., to Oliver Martin and Pearl E. Sutcliffe Moore. She attended schools in Okeene, Okla.
She married Ralph K. Wingate on Oct. 8, 1949, in Parsons. He survives.
She was a homemaker.
Other survivors include two daughters, Judy Dunn, Altoona, and Sheila Murphy, Bella Vista, Ark.; a son, Rick Wingate, Thayer; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Helen Melton, Ventura, Calif.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Faith Bible Church in Chanute. Burial will follow in Harrison Cemetery, Thayer, under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Contributions to Faith Bible Church may be left with the funeral home.
