Margaret L. Huffman, 83, Chanute, died Saturday, October 25, 2008, at Chanute Healthcare Center.

She was born July 26, 1925, in rural Rose to David and Beatrice Tuttle Thornton. She attended Stark schools.

She married Lyle Huffman. They later divorced. She married Harry Aikins. He died on April 13, 1998. She later remarried Lyle Huffman. He died on Nov. 26, 2004.

She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Bible Church.

Survivors include by a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Debbie Huffman, Chanute; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Darlene Clark, Chanute, Donna and Ebbie Ahadi, Port Isabel, Texas, and Karen and Jim George, Dallas, Texas; three stepsons, Dale, Jack and Tom Aikins; 17 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Leroy and Harlan Thornton; and a great-granddaughter, Rochelle Huffman.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute. Burial will follow in Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery on West 21st Street.

Mrs. Huffman will lie in state from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
