Frances Ruth McKinley, Pauls Valley, Okla., passed from this life on November 3, 2008 in Pauls Valley, Okla., at the age of 85 years.

She was born to Leslie E. and Mattie Fuhrman Bacon on Sept. 2, 1923, in Moran where she grew up on a farm and graduated from high school.

On Jan. 17, 1942, Ruth married Clifford Burtnett in Iola. He preceded her in death. On Nov. 24, 1990, Ruth married Vernon McKinley in Ponca City, Okla. He survives.

Ruth worked as a ladies ready-to-wear clerk for Ruth Lynn Dress Shop in Iola and Ruth Druley’s Dress Shop in Ponca City, Okla. She retired in 1990.

Ruth was a member of the PEO and the Pauls Valley First United Methodist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed collecting Hummels, horseback riding and bridge clubs.

Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Lucy Burtnett, Wichita; two daughters and sons-in-law, Chari and Jim Sowers, Derby, and Linda Sue and Ray Shipp, Chanute; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Lucy Bacon, Moran; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Donald Fuston, Lawrence; a sister-in-law, Cecelia Rakestraw, Midwest City, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Mattie Bacon; and two brothers, Herman and Floyd Bacon.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7 in the First United Methodist Church in Pauls Valley, Okla., with Dr. Bob Kanary officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Highland Cemetery in Iola with Chaplain Lloyd Houk under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
