M.C. Russell, 85, longtime Overland Park resident, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009.
He was born Aug. 29, 1924, in Lisco, Neb., to Marion Clay and Minnie Mae Wescott Russell.
He was a veteran of World War II and wounded in the Phillipines in 1944.
On March 5, 1951, he married Ruth Hole. She survives.
He retired from Hallmark Card Co. in 1989.
Other survivors include a brother, Charles and his wife Eva Curfman, Nashua, N.H., and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Compton and Ellen DeMetz.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at The Overland Park Christian Church, 7600 W. 75th St., under the direction of Amos Family Chapel, Shawnee. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the church.
