Emmett C. Keller, 89, Fredonia, died Saturday, September 26, 2009.

He was born June 3, 1920, in Fredonia to William Edgar and Vennie Meadows Keller. He graduated from Fredonia High School in 1939.

On June 15, 1941, he married Marjorie Faye Woods. She died on Dec. 23, 1996. He married Mildred Odell on Jan. 17, 2004. She survives.

He served in U.S. Army during World War II, from 1942 to 1946.

He worked at General Portland Cement Plant from 1951 to 1982 and raised cattle for many years, retiring from that vocation in 1990.

Other survivors include a daughter, Jolinda Ward, Manhattan; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a stepson, Steve Odell, Fredonia; a stepdaughter, Debra Rush, Prairie Village; five step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Max Keller.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fredonia City Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Timmons Funeral Home, Fredonia. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
