Joseph J. “Jody” Beachner, 31, St. Paul, died unexpectedly Friday morning, November 7, 2008, at his home.

He was born April 8, 1977, at Fort Scott to Jerry and Janey Bradshaw Beachner.

He grew up and attended schools in St. Paul. While in high school he was active in sports and was class president for four years. He graduated in 1995. He attended Pittsburg State University.

He was a construction worker and had worked for Beachner Construction in St. Paul, Earl May Nursery in Kansas City, JRB Industries in Parsons and Mission Construction in St. Paul.

He found the most enjoyment when spending time with his son. He also enjoyed riding four-wheelers, archery and classic cars.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. He had a great devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and prayed the rosary frequently.

Survivors include a son, Tavin Allen Joseph Beachner, Belton, Mo.; his parents, Jerry and Janey Beachner, St. Paul; three brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Becky Beachner, Parsons, Tom and Debbie Beachner, Olathe, and Michael and Angela Beachner, St. Paul; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Suzie and Terry Diskin, St. Paul, Joan and John Shannon, Alexandria, Va., and Annette and Bill Treiber, St. Paul; 21 nieces and nephews; and his godparents, Herb and Doris Jean Moses.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Fred and Anna Beachner; maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Pauline Bradshaw; and a niece, Leslie Treiber.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Francis. The family will receive friends following the rosary. Arrangements are under the direction of Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home.
