Charles Lowell Olson, 89, Chanute, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

Charles was born in Burr Oak, Kan., on May 14, 1920, the son of David W. and Lenore Callahan Olson.

He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Charles was united in marriage to Florence Louise Sellegran on March 14, 1948 at the Friends Home Lutheran Church in Savonburg. She preceded him in death in 2006.

He was a farmer and worked at Chanute Manufacturing.

Charles is survived by his children, Cecelia Wilson and her husband, Tom, Roland Olson and his wife, Anne, and Debra Huerter and her husband, Don; grandchildren, Amanda Allen, Cara Wonderly, Brent Wilson, Stephanie Huerter, Josh Huerter, Ryan Olson and Rusty Olson; great-granddaughter Sophie; and two brothers, David Olson. Jr., Kansas City, and James Olson, Albuquerque, N.M.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Florence; and two brothers, Earl and Alfred Olson.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chanute. Burial will follow in the Swedish Cemetery, Savonburg.

A visitation was held Monday evening at Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute.

Memorials in his name may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church and may be left with the funeral home.
