Burris D. Milliron, 86, Parsons, died Monday, January 25, 2010, at his home. He had been in failing health.
He was born Oct. 20, 1923, in Buffalo to Orville and Ura Leone Landrith Milliron. He was a 1941 graduate of Buffalo High School.
He began a stint in the U.S. Air Force in 1943.
After other employment, he moved to Independence in 1955 where he worked as a trooper covering five counties. He retired from the highway patrol in 1981.
He and Ardith Irene Moore were married Jan. 20, 1954, in Bartlesville, Okla. She died on April 25, 1981.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Workman, Parsons; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley A. Campbell, Eureka.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Milliron; a sister, Norma Lou Ebert; and longtime companion, Kathryn M. “Kay” Borklund.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Buffalo Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, Parsons.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
