Robert N. “Bob” Donovan, 81, Chanute, died Friday, January 29, 2010, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita.
He was born Feb. 8, 1928, in Chanute to Guy F. and Eva M. Brown Donovan. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1946.
He worked for Ash Grove Cement Company for 39 years. He also owned and operated Bob Donovan Contracting since 1959.
He married Wanda Lee DeArmond in Chanute on Dec. 30, 1950. She died on Aug. 15, 2007.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Elks Lodge 806.
Survivors include a daughter, Patty Warhurst, Chanute; three sons, Mike, Jim and Randy Donovan, all of Chanute; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Anissia Ann; six brothers, Charles, Guy Edwin, Leo, Darell, Carl and infant brother Theodore Richard; and two sisters, Dora and Catherine.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
Contributions to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita or the First Baptist Church in Chanute may be left with the funeral home.
