Kenneth D. Pittman, 80, Wichita, died Monday, February 8, 2010, after a long battle from numerous medical complications.

He was born Jan. 30, 1930, in Elk City to Art and Ella Pittman. He graduated from Neodesha High School and Chanute Junior College where he played football.

On Aug. 17, 1952, he married Barbara Richardson. They celebrated 57 years of marriage. She survives.

After graduating, he served in the U.S. Navy until 1955. He attended Kansas State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Beech/Raytheon Aircraft for 37 years where he traveled the world and managed numerous projects.

He was a family man and an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and camp.

Other survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Susan Pittman, Olathe, Terry and Linda Pittman, Wichita, and Greg and Cheri Pittman, Lubbock, Texas; six grandchildren, Brett, Trenton, Jason, Corey, Anna and Ryan; a sister and brother-in-law, Vinita and Glenn Thornton, Cherryvale; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Eastminster Presbyterian Church. Graveside services will follow at the Leanna Cemetery near Chanute. Arrangements are under the direction of Downing & Lahey Mortuary East, Wichita.
