Roy Wayne Gildart, 81, Neodesha, died Thursday, November 13, 2008, at his home.

He was born Feb. 20, 1927, in Thayer to Charley F. and Sibyl O. Jones Gildart. He graduated from Thayer High School in 1945.

On March 4, 1951, he married Laura Ellen Erickson in Chanute. She died on March 23, 2008.

He served with the U.S. Army from 1945-1946.

He worked for Neodesha Plastics before retiring.

Survivors include a daughter, Jackie Lowry, Neodesha; two sons, Randy and Rick Gildart, both of Neodesha; three brothers, Ralph, Dale and Neil Gildart, all of Thayer; six sisters, Erma Gough, Erie, Lena Mae Pippen and Norma Stell, both of Oklahoma City, Okla., Francis Wedan, Denver, Colo., Nelda Beaman, Copan, Okla., and Doris Engstrom, Sepulveda, Calif.; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Reve, and a brother, Paul.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Inurnment will be in Neodesha Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
