Robert J. Gillett, 71, Toronto, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Allen County Hospital, Iola.
He was born Dec. 24, 1936, in Owosso, Mich., to Emmett and Vesta Kersey Gillett.
He served in the U.S. Marines during Vietnam.
He retired after 40 years of working as a millwright and pipefitter, most recently for Trend Construction.
On May 7, 1984, in Fredonia he married Maxine Hydorn. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters; three stepchildren, Kathy Cummings, Toronto, Bob Cummings, Chanute, and Jim Cummings, Wichita; four siblings, Marie Herrick, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Emmett Jr., Dick and Wayne Gillett, all of Owosso, Mich.; eight stepgrandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kincaid Cemetery under the direction of Timmons Funeral Home, Fredonia.
Friends will meet at 1 p.m. Friday at Toronto Senior Center.
