Rose Z. McCaine, 67, Chanute, died Friday, February 19, 2010, at Heritage Health Care Center in Chanute. She was born March 15, 1942, Chanute to Ira and Neva Brown Herndon. She attended schools in Chanute. She married Bill Key. He preceded her in death in 1963. She later married John McCaine. He also preceded her in death. She worked as a laborer in the manufacturing field. She also worked as a bartender at the Cecil J. Meeker V.F.W. Post 1654. She was a member of the Cecil J. Meeker V.F.W. Post 1654 Auxiliary and the Boerstler-May American Legion Post 170 Auxiliary.

Survivors include two sons, Daniel Herndon and Bill Key, both of Chanute; two grandchildren, Joshua Preston and Benjamin Daniel Herndon; a great-grandson, Blaze D. Herndon; three step-grandchildren, Michael, Tiffany and Christina Peacock; three step-great-grandchildren, Christerphere J. Wilhite, Kailynn M.Wilhite and Matthew Peacock; two brothers, Dean and Burl Herndon; and three sisters, Vera Tidd, Donna Mitchell, and Patsy Jo Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Angel Marie; a brother, Claude Herndon; and three sisters, Ima Jean Beckley, Peggy Badart and Cathy West; and a niece, Susie Feldhut.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Humboldt.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Contributions to the American Cancer Society may be left with the funeral home.
